Having extensive eye training gives us special insight and consideration when performing cosmetic procedures, which include: BOTOX Cosmetic injections, LATISSE for eyelash enhancement, and Blepharoplasty – a popular eyelid surgery that is also known as an eyelift.
Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Lift)
As we age, it is common to have loose skin and weakening of eyelid muscles which can contribute to droopy upper eyelids. As a result, droopy eyelids can impair vision by interfering with tasks such as reading or driving that require clear vision. Many patients also complain that the droopy eyelids give an older, more tired appearance.
Our board-certified ophthalmologists who are specially trained in Oculoplastics (surgery involving special training in plastic or reconstructive surgery), perform Blepharoplasty procedures, or eyelid lifts, correcting drooping or sagging tissues of the upper and lower eyelids.
Blepharoplasty is performed under local anesthesia with mild sedation and involves removing excess skin and fat from the upper and lower eyelids.
Functional Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty
An upper eyelid blepharoplasty involves external incisions that are placed along the natural crease lines of each eyelid. Then, your surgeon will remove or reposition the excess tissue that has impacted your vision or caused discomfort. Medicare and insurance may cover upper eyelid blepharoplasty if it is causing a functional problem that interferes with your vision. Special tests are performed to determine the level of vision loss that might be occurring due to droopy upper eyelids. A combination of these tests and your consultation with your surgeon will be used to determine whether Medicare or your insurance will cover the treatment.
Lower Blepharoplasty
Most lower eyelid blepharoplasties are for cosmetic reasons, where patients are looking to improve “bags” or dark circles under their eyes. Lower blepharoplasty will result in decreased puffiness under the eyes and will help to restore a more rested and youthful appearance. Lower eyelids involve incisions which are placed just inside the lower eyelid, to remove fatty deposits beneath the eyes. These incisions are closed with tiny absorbable sutures.
However, the lower eyelids rarely interfere with loss of vision and is typically not covered by Medicare or insurance.

Botox
Clay Eye Physicians and Surgeons have specialized training in the use of Botox for medical and cosmetic reasons. BOTOX is a non-surgical treatment option that helps patients eliminate their unwanted lines or wrinkles that develop with age. BOTOX prevents wrinkles on a person’s forehead, brow and crow’s feet region by blocking impulses from the nerve from reaching the muscles. Treatments with BOTOX can usually be completed in a short period of time and last upwards of three to six months. Repetitive treatment with BOTOX typically produces longer lasting results.

Latisse
Latisse is an FDA approved treatment for those with insufficient or scarce eyelashes.
The Latisse treatment works to grow eyelashes longer, thicker and darker, improving their appearance and increasing the eyelash hair growth cycle. When Latisse is used regularly, patients can expect to see results within two months.
