Education, Fellowship Training, and Certifications

Dr. Hayes earned his medical degree from Kansas City University. He completed his transitional internship and ophthalmology residency at Navy Medical Center in San Diego, California.

He completed fellowship training in glaucoma at West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia. Dr. Hayes is a board-certified ophthalmologist by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

He is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Florida Osteopathic Medical Association, American Osteopathic Association, and American Glaucoma Society.

Military Service and Clinical Experience

Before joining Clay Eye, Dr. Hayes served as a Lieutenant Commander in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Navy. He served on active duty from 2003 through 2014, including 11 years as a Navy flight surgeon with VAQ-133 at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island.

His military medical experience also included ophthalmology care at Navy hospitals in Yokosuka, Japan, and Pensacola, Florida.
